Dr Abdul Kalam International Scholarships, University of Sydney, Australia

The Faculty of Engineering & Information Technologies at the University of Sydney takes great pleasure in announcing the Dr Abdul Kalam International Scholarships for new international students commencing in Engineering & IT programs at the University in 2012.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. During his five years in office, Dr Abdul Kalam’s focus was on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020. A distinguished scientist and aeronautical engineer by training, Dr. Abdul Kalam advocates that it is possible to work cooperatively for an economically developed, prosperous and peaceful society.

In recognition of his global contribution to his profession, Dr Kalam was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Sydney in May 2011.

The Dr Abdul Kalam International Scholarships celebrate his commitment to education, and his endeavours to support outstanding students to develop as future leaders.10 Scholarships will be available for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Co

SELECTION CRITERIA

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Benefits
5 x 50% tuition fee Scholarships each per annum, available for a maximum of four years, for any Undergraduate course in Engineering or Information Technology offered at the University of Sydney (subject to the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress each year).

No living allowance is payable.

Criteria for Eligibility

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS
Benefits
5 x 50% tuition fee Scholarships each, available as a one-off award for any Postgraduate Coursework program in Engineering or Information Technology offered at the University of Sydney.

No living allowance is payable.

Criteria for Eligibility
Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree qualification with a minimum high distinction average as based on the Australian grading system. Students who have already commenced Postgraduate studies, or students transferring from other Postgraduate programs are not eligible.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

CONDITIONS
Undergraduate Scholarship recipients will need to maintain satisfactory academic progress, which, for the purposes of retaining the Scholarship, is defined as maintaining a credit average (at least 65%) or more each year. Failure to do so may result in the Scholarship being terminated.
